Story
As a relative of a crew member who perished on the Royal Oak I was so delighted that a volunteer team had begun to survey the wargrave to help provide an insight into the events of the sinking and fascinating images in time for this year’s 80th anniversary. Like many families related to those who served we were looking forward to seeing all that the team had documented and were so very sorry to hear that the team had lost much of their equipment and, consequently the data and images they had been working on through theft. I understand now that there is little hope of these items being recovered and I have it on very good authority that the actual cost of the items stolen were in excess on £10k. Despite this dreadful setback for the team I would like to ask if you would consider making a donation as a gesture of gratitude as I believe that the team are hopeful of completing the survey if they are able. If you have read this far, thank you so much for your attention and grateful thanks for any amount you feel able to contribute.

Having had the privilege of diving in Scapa I know that the volunteers have previously surveyed HMS Hampshire and ensure that their work is licenced and approved by The Royal Navy as they are very aware of the sensitive nature of working on a war grave.
